I was really happy to be assigned the Mortem Rex, our first Apex raid boss on Jurassic World Alive, at the start of 2020.

I really pushed as far as I could with the knowledge I had at the time, but it's awesome to see how far this job has progressed me in just about 3 years.
The final texture is 512x512, consisting of Diffuse, Specular, Normal, Emissive and Rimlight mask.

The final model diverted quite a bit from the concept to match both the rig, my own vision and the artdirection we wanted to take for the vfx.
I started playing around with the VFX smoke in Unity on this creature, and ended up doing a lot of the creature VFX for both the Mortem Rex, Hadros Lux, Ceramagnus and the Gorgotrebax along with our tech artists Olivier Dufault and David Cérat. It was a really cool learning experience!
